Moore, OklahomaMoore is a rapidly growing suburb located in Cleveland County, Oklahoma and is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area.. As of July 1, 2003, the city had a total population of 44,987. Situated in northern Cleveland County, Moore is the second largest city in the county and the ninth largest city in the state. Moore is less than twenty minutes from downtown Oklahoma City, Will Rogers World Airport, Tinker Air Force Base, the University of Oklahoma, the Federal Aviation Agency and thousands of businesses, industries, public and private schools, as well as recreational and cultural facilities. Geography Moore is located at 35°20'20" North, 97°29'15" West (35.338813, -97.487584). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 56.6 km² (21.9 mi²). 56.3 km² (21.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.64% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 41,138 people, 14,848 households, and 11,566 families residing in the city. The population density is 730.9/km² (1,892.8/mi²). There are 15,801 housing units at an average density of 280.8/km² (727.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 84.63% White, 2.92% Black, 4.14% Native American, 1.62% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.75% from other races, and 4.89% from two or more races. 5.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 14,848 households out of which 41.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.4% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% are non-families. 18.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.13. In the city the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.6 males. The median income for a household in the city is $43,409, and the median income for a family is $47,773. Males have a median income of $33,394 versus $24,753 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,689. 7.6% of the population and 6.3% of families are below the poverty line.
