Monumenta Nipponica

Launched in 1938 by Sophia University in Tokyo, Monumenta Nipponica is a quarterly academic English-language journal featuring peer-reviewed articles and book reviews on Japanese society, culture, history, religion, literature, art, anthropology, thought and other topics relevant to Japanese and Asian studies. Each issue presents three to four main articles documenting the research of contributing scholars, as well as ten to fifteen brief reviews of recent books on Japan. The journal's paper cover features a characteristic olive green and gold weave pattern with the title centered in crimson lettering.
