Monument Avenue

Monument Avenue, in Richmond, Virginia, memorializes Confederate Heroes of the Civil War, and one Richmond native. "Monument Avenue Historic District" is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On May 29, 1890, crowds were estimated at 100,000 to see the unveiling of the first monument, to Robert E. Lee.
