Monomoscoy Island is a census-designated place and part of the town of Mashpee in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the island had a total population of 152.

Geography

Monomoscoy Island is located at 41°34'12" North, 70°30'17" West (41.569951, -70.504593). According to the United States Census Bureau, the island has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). The island has no internal bodies of water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 152 people, 81 households, and 46 families residing on the island. The population density is 244.5/km² (625.6/mi²). There are 152 housing units at an average density of 244.5/km² (625.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the island is 97.37% White, 0.00% African American, 1.32% Native American, 1.32% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 81 households out of which 16.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.9% are married couples living together, 7.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% are non-families. 37.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.88 and the average family size is 2.39. On the island the population is spread out with 13.8% under the age of 18, 2.0% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 38.2% from 45 to 64, and 25.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 53 years. For every 100 females there are 78.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.5 males. The median income for a household on the island is $37,589, and the median income for a family is $34,444. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $18,333 for females. The per capita income for the island is $19,927. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
