Monastery Of Monte Cassino

  Monte Cassino
The Monastery of Monte Cassino is the traditional foundation house of the Benedictines, where Saint Benedict of Nursia wrote his famous rule. It stands in Italy, south of Rome; because of its strategic location, it has been the site of many battles, most notably during World War II when it was part of the Gustav Line defending northern Italy from the allied invasion.
