Monaro Highway
The
Monaro Highway
is a State
highway
in both
New South Wales
and
Victoria
,
Australia
. The Monaro highway is located in the south-eastern part of the state. It traverses the
Monaro
region, hence the name. It starts at
Canberra
and runs south past
Michelago
and
Bredbo
to
Cooma
. It continues to
Bombala
and beyond crossing the Victorian border until it meets
Princes Highway
. The Monaro highway is roughly 200 kilometers long and forms past of the main road route from
Sydney
to the
Snowy Mountains
. It is also an important freight route between Victoria's
Gippsland
region and Canberra.
