Mohammedia

Mohammedia is a port city located 15 miles northeast of Casablanca. The city was originally named Fedala, but was renamed in 1959 in honor of King Muhammad V. The port was a traditional point of contact between European traders and Morocco between the 14th and 19th centuries before Morocco was annexed by the French, who began construction of modern port facilities in 1913. Today, the city serves as both a seaside resort and a manufacturing center.
