MlarenMlaren is the third largest lake in Sweden, after lakes Vnern and Vttern. Its area is 1140 km² and its greatest depth is 64 m. The lake drains, from west to east, into the Baltic Sea at Stockholm through Sdertlje kanal, Norrstrm, Slussen and Hammarbyslussen. The easternmost bay of Mlaren, in central Stockholm, is called Riddarfjrden. The lake is located in Svealand and bounded by the Provinces of Uplandia, Sudermannia, Nericia, and Westmannia. The two largest islands in Mlaren are Selan (91 km²) and Svartsjlandet (79 km²). Birka (older name for Bjrk) and Hovgrden (on the neighbouring island Adels) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. Larger islands Incomplete: See also External links
