Minimum Chips

Minimum Chips are an Australian indie band formed in Brisbane in the 1990s, and since relocated to Melbourne. Their influences include surf rock and krautrock; perhaps predictably, their sound has been compared with Stereolab (whom they supported on one of their Australian tours).

Current Members

  • Nicole Thibault (formerly of Clag; also of Letraset)
  • Julian Patterson (also of Letraset)
  • Ian Wadley (also of Bird Blobs)
  • Ellen Turner (formerly of Huon)
Guy Blackman of Chapter Music/Sleepy Township played bass in Minimum Chips until departing for Japan, when he was replaced by Ellen.

  • Blip 7" (Chapter Music, 1996)
  • Swish EP (Varispeed, 1997)
  • Freckles EP (Trifekta, 2000)
  • Portfolio CD (retrospective compilation) (Chapter Music, 2002)
