Mini Pci

Mini PCI is an adaptation of the Peripheral Component Interconnect bus. It was designed for laptops and other small-footprint computer systems. As is the case with PCI, it is a 32-bit, 33 MHz bus with powered connections and support for bus-mastering and DMA. The standard size for Mini PCI cards is approximately 1/4 of their full-sized counterparts. Given that there is no external access to the card in the same manner that there is for desktop PCI cards, Mini PCI cards are generally limited in the functions they may perform. Currently, the primary use for these connectors is to add wireless networking capabilities to a laptop; in fact, no devices aside from wireless network adapters are in widespread use as of late 2004. In the past, modem and network capabilities have been attached to laptops using Mini PCI cards. | PCI-SIG Mini PCI
