Milliarcsecond

A milliarcsecond (m, mas), or a thoundsanth of an arcsecond. Astronomical distances to stars are sometimes given in mas, such as in the Hipparcos catalogue. This unit can be converted to parsecs (pc) by taking the inverse: 1000 mas = 1/pc
