Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis

Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (September 10 (September 22, New Style), 1875 - March 28 (April 10, New Style), 1911) was a Lithuanian composer and artist. During his short life he created about 200 pieces of music and painted about 300 paintings. Most of his paintings are collected in the Ciurlionis Museum, Kaunas, Lithuania. His works have been of profound influence on the modern Lithuanian culture. His name has been given to cliffs in the Franz Josef Land, an archipelago in the Barents Sea and a peak in the Pamir Mountains.
