Mikael Stanne

Mikael Stanne is one of the founding members of the Swedish death metal band, Dark Tranquillity. He begun playing guitars and singing backing vocals, as well as contributing with some lyrics. After Fridn's departure, with the album "The Gallery" (1995), Stanne would become the permanent lead vocalist, leaving guitars and writing more lyrics, until the album "Haven" (2000), in which he would become the exclusive lyrics writer of the band. Stanne's voice is one of the greatest examples of extreme metal vocals, and varies from the harsh sound proper of death metal to more operatic and melodic tones proper of gothic metal.
