He is Liberal Democrat member of Parliament for Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale. He was elected in 1997, succeeding David Steel. He is the Liberal Democrats Deputy Leader and Shadow Minister on Foreign Affairs. He is also the Campaign Chairman for the Scottish Parliamentary Elections and the Governor and vice-chair of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. Moore is a former pupil of Strathallan School and Jedburgh Grammar School.
