Michael I. Jordan

A highly-publicised academic in artificial intelligence, responsible for popularising Bayesian network theory and forming links between AI and statistics. He was formerly a member of the PDP Group in the 1980s where in invented recurrent Jordan networks as a cognitive model. More recently he seems to have turned his back on his cognitive roots and pushed a dryer, statistical view of the subject, especially though his editorships of the NIPS conferences. He is currently a full professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
