Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority

Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority known also as the Greater Dayton RTA. Dayton's RTA serves the communities surrounding Montgomery County and parts of Greene County, Ohio. There are 37 operating routes and school oriented buses avaliable. The buses operate seven days a week, 21 hours a week. and provide services to many citizens within the Dayton area. The fare of the buses is $1.25, as of January 1, 2005. RTA also operates five bus hub terminals. Dayton is the smallest city in the United States to still operate electric trolley buses. The RTA has been involved in helping the city of Dayton through its contributions to the Dayton Dragons, The Shuster Center, and the Dayton Aviation National Historic Park. They are actively involved in curbing violence, teen truancy, and crime at the downtown headquarters which also serves as a hub for passengers. The chief operations officer is Minnie Fields Johnson. The trolley buses travel at least five miles on RTA routes serving Dayton and some suburbs. The routes include: Route 1, Route 2, Route 3, Route 4, Route 5, Route 7 and Route 8.
