The MG Midget was a small sports car produced by MG division of the British Motor Corporation from 1961 through 1979. It was identical to the second-generation Austin-Healey Sprite, which it outlasted. Both began with 948 cc A-Series engines from the Morris Minor 1000. The Midget and Sprite recieved larger 1098 cc engines in late 1962, along with updated brakes (discs in front). The engine was enlarged to 1275 cc for 1966. In 1974, the Midget and Sprite were updated for USA regulations. Black bumpers were fitted (as on the MGB), and the engine from the Triumph Spitfire 1500 was used instead of the old A-Series motor.
