Mewithoutyou

mewithoutYou (with a lower case 'm' and a capital 'Y' because the "You" is speaking of God, as their lyrics tell stories of life without Him) is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based rock band that has been labeled as hardcore, punk, and emo, though the unique sound of the band is not fully encapsulated in any of these descriptions. Band members are Aaron Weiss - lead vocals, brother Michael Weiss - guitar, Christopher Kleinberg - guitar, Daniel Pishock- bass guitar, and Richard Mazzotta- drums. Noted for wailing guitars processed with distortions, especially the bass which is not very common, and drums in thundering and suddenly silent rhythms, the debut album A-->B life (also known as A to B life) starts off with a lullaby chord, soon joined by other instruments and then completely wakes the listener with Aaron screaming rather than singing the opening phrase Let us die, let us die! Then dying we reply. Dont talk to us about suffering now, look in our eyes, look in our eyes. The song ends with a poetic thought,
When you laugh you'll feel my breath there filling up your lungs.
And when you cry, those aren't your tears
but I'm there falling down your cheek.
And when you say you love him, taste me I'm like poison on your tongue -
But when you're tired, if you're quiet,
you'll hear me singing you to sleep.
The album then continues through the next two songs as if they were one track. With this recurring theme the whole album sounds as if it were only three or four songs. The album includes different styles such as punk, trans, hardcore, and even an acoustic surprise in the hidden track. The band seems to take an interest in playing music and playing it in ways no one thought they wanted to hear it.
