Metro Balderas is a station on the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the Cuauhtmoc borough in the center of Mexico City. It is a transfer station, serving Lines 1 and 3. The station logo depicts the colonial-era cannon preserved on the nearby Plaza de La Ciudadela. Nearby Metro Balderas are some interesting places, like La Ciudadela market, filled with Mexican hancrafts, and a tianguis (street market) full books old and new, comics, collectibles, etc. This station has an information desk and facilities for the handicapped It also displays plaque unveiled on September 19, 2004, in honor of Mexican rock musician Rodrigo (Rockdrigo) Gonzlez, who died 20 years previously in the 1985 earthquake and who composed a song titled Metro Balderas. It is interesting that, despite being a totally underground station, cellular phone signals (GSM and TDMA for serval providers) are able to reach the platform. Balderas
