Metacomco

MetaComCo was a company started in 1984 and based in Bristol, England. They were contracted by Commodore to develop a new operating system for the Motorola 68000; a processor they (MetaComCo) specialised in. The fact that the time allowed for the development of the OS was very short and that MetaComCo had previously worked on another OS for the 68000, called TripOS, was the reason they won the contract over other companies. The development of the new OS was led by Dr Tim King, who had previously worked on TripOS whilst a researcher at the University of Cambridge, and ultimately resulted in AmigaOS which shared a great deal with TripOS.
