United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
ruled that
Orange County, California
could not segregate
Mexican-American
children into separate schools. This decision came eight years before the
U.S. Supreme Court
handed down a similar ruling in
Brown v. Board of Education
with reference to segregation of
African-Americans
.
