Menasha, WisconsinMenasha is a city located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,331. The city is located mostly within the Town of Menasha in Winnebago County. A portion is within the Town of Harrison in Calumet County. Geography is located at 44°12'46" North, 88°26'10" West (44.212853, -88.436182). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.3 km² (6.7 mi²). 13.6 km² (5.3 mi²) of it is land and 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 21.29% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 16,331 people, 6,951 households, and 4,233 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,198.8/km² (3,106.9/mi²). There are 7,271 housing units at an average density of 533.7/km² (1,383.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.80% White, 0.54% African American, 0.61% Native American, 1.62% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.38% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. 3.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 6,951 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.1% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% are non-families. 31.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.99. In the city the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 33.6% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.4 males. The median income for a household in the city is $39,936, and the median income for a family is $47,401. Males have a median income of $36,705 versus $25,176 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,743. 6.5% of the population and 5.4% of families are below the poverty line.
