Melissus

In Greek mythology, Melissus was a King of Crete, whose only role was to provide a patriarchal father-figure for Melissa and Amaltheia. Melissus and the more usual alternative form Melisseus ("honey-man") are simply male forms of Melissa. Melissus of Samos was a 5th-century Greek philosopher.
