Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute

The Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute (MCLI) is a Berkeley, California-based non-profit corporation founded in 1965 which seeks to promote social change by increasing the recognition and use of existing human rights and peace law at the local, national, and international levels. The Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute carries on a wide range of activities, including research, publication, advocacy, and education. It publishes a quarterly newsletter, Human Rights Now! The organization is named for Alexander Meiklejohn (1872-1964), a philosopher, university administrator, and free-speech advocate. The executive director is Ann Fagan Ginger.
