Meetings With Remarkable MenMeetings with Remarkable Men is G. I. Gurdjieff's autobiography. It was originally published in 1963 and was made into a 1979 feature film which was directed by Peter Brook starring Terence Stamp. It tells the tale of a young Gurdjieff growing up in a world torn between traditional culture and rationalism and the developing modern sciences. The book is the second part of the trilogy known as All and Everything written by Gurdjieff between 1924 and 1935. The young Gurdjieff's insatiable curiosity takes him across the world in search of the "truth". He has many adventures and introduces the reader to many of the personages and groups that influenced his thinking. His travels are in company of remarkable men princes, engineers, doctors, priests and his father — hence the title of the book. These men help him shape his understanding of life and bring him the needed aid at those moments of discovery that make his journey to another level to travel into an unknown land and experience the Movements and the teachings of the Sarmoung Brotherhood — a secret and some say mythical order in a remote part of Central Asia.
