Me And Bessie

Me And Bessie is a musical revue written and performed by Linda Hopkins as a one-woman-show about the life and work of fellow Blues singer Bessie Smith. The world premiere was in Los Angeles in 1974, then Linda took it to Washington D.C. and then to Broadway. On Broadway Linda Hopkins set a yet unbroken record with 'Me And Bessie' in 1974/75. It was and remains the only one-character-show that played without interruption for 13 months (precisely 453 performances) on Broadway.
