Geography

McDonald is located at 34°33'12" North, 79°10'34" West (34.553244, -79.176057). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 119 people, 40 households, and 37 families residing in the town. The population density is 176.7/km² (455.6/mi²). There are 41 housing units at an average density of 60.9/km² (157.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 36.13% White, 10.92% African American, 52.10% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.84% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 40 households out of which 27.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.5% are married couples living together, 22.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 7.5% are non-families. 7.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.98 and the average family size is 3.08. In the town the population is spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.3 males. The median income for a household in the town is $37,083, and the median income for a family is $37,917. Males have a median income of $22,917 versus $26,875 for females.
