Mc Neill

Mc Neill is the designation of an HVDC back-to-back station in Canada to interconnect the powergrids of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The HVDC station Mc Neill was built by General Electric and went in service in 1989. It can transfer a maximum power of 150 megawatts. The used DC voltage is 42 kV. In opposite to other HVDC systems no smoothing reactor is used.
