Matuku

In Polynesian mythology (specifically, Maori), Matuku ("bittern") is a son of Tawhaki and Hine Piripiri. Matuku is a cruel, cannibalistic man who was raised by a sea-spirit, who taught him how to make and use kites, as well as how to walk on the bottom of the ocean in order to escape his enemies.
