Material Principle

In Christian theology, a material principle is the central teaching of a religion, religious tradition or movement, religious body or organization. If properly identified and understood, the material principle helps a scholar understand all the teachings of a religious group. All of the tenets of a doctrinal system can be explained in relationship to its material principle.
