The Master's College
The Master's College is a comprehensive inter-denominational Christian College in the liberal arts tradition situated among the oak-studded hills of Newhall, California. Its more than fifty academic programs provide excellent career preparation. It is known especially for its teacher certification program and its biblically oriented undergraduate majors. It was founded in 1927 as L.A. Baptist Seminary and moved to its current campus in 1961. The college took its name in 1985 when Dr. John MacArthur, Jr. of Grace Community Churchhttp://www.gracechurch.org/main.asp of Sun Valley, California became President of the college. The affiliated Master's Seminary is in Sun Valley, about fifteen miles south of the college. In the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report of Americas Best Colleges 2004, The Masters College is ranked fifth (5th) in the West as Best Comprehensive Colleges—Bachelors. There are 40 colleges in the Western region, and 324 colleges nationally in this category. This marks the fifth year in the past six that The Masters College has been in Tier 1 of its category. The Masters College was also cited in several other categories, including seventh (7th) in the western region in the category of Best Value.
