Mary Ellen Chase

Mary Ellen Chase (born February 24, 1887 in Blue Hill, Maine died July 28, 1973 in Northampton, Massachusetts) was a teacher, scholar, and writer. Chase recieved a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota where she served as an assistant professor from 1922 to 1926. She taught at Smith College from 1926 until her retirement in 1955.
