Martin Wickremasinghe

Martin Wickramansinghe was a novelist, journalist, thinker and social commentator. He is the foremost literary figure of the 20th Century, in Sri Lanka. Several of his novels have been made into movies. Koggala, along the coast of the Southern Province, was Wickremasinghe's home and the setting for several of his works, including Madol Duwa. The Martin Wickremasinghe Museum of Folk Art, located within the property of his birthplace, can be visited in Koggala.
