Marlins Stadium Marlins Stadium The Ballpark will include a retractable roof, approximately 38,000 seats of which 3,000 are premium seats, and 62 luxury suites. It will also include an aquarium, a community center, and other ballpark attractions. It will be located next to Miami Orange Bowl Stadium in Little Havana. The Marlins will put forth $192 million in annual rent payments. Miami-Dade County has pledged to spend $138 million, from hotel bed and sports facilities taxes, and own the facility. The City of Miami would provide $28 million in tourist development taxes. The trio are expected to have an agreement by March 1st to present to Florida State Legislators in Tallahassee once they start their session on March 8th. They seek to convince the state to grant the Marlins the standard $2 million a year sports sales tax rebate for a term of 30 years. This tax would allow the Marlins to pay the current $30 million budget shortfall. The team would oversee construction of the ballpark, operate the ballpark, maintain the ballpark and be responsible for cost overruns. The county shall own the ballpark and rent it to the team.
