Mark Barnsley

Mark Barnsley is a British anarchist who served eight years in prison after being involved in a fight in a pub near his home in the Lake District in 1994. He had been sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. He was released in June 2002. Mark's case became a cause clbre for anarchists, particularly in Britain. Supporters allege that Mark's conviction was grossly unfair, that he was just trying to defend his wife and child from a group of drunken students, and that his conviction was a result of political and class prejudice. Mark has, however, never received a pardon. Barnsley, Mark
