MarinkaMarinka is a romantic musical by composer Emmerich Kalman with book by George Marion, Jr., and Karl Farkas, and lyrics by George Marion, Jr. Produced on Broadway by Jules J. Leventhal and Harry Howard, and staged by Hassard Short, it premiered on 18 July1945 at the Winter Garden Theatre, staring Joan Roberts as Marinka, Harry Stockwell as Crown Prince Rudolph, Romo Vincent as Bratfisch, and Luba Malina as Countess Landovska. The plot, set in Vienna, Mayerling, and Budapest, with a prologue and epilogue in an open air movie theatre in Connecticut, was a retelling of the story of Mayerling. The musical numbers included: "One Touch of Vienna", "The Cab Song", "My Prince Came Riding", "If I Never Waltz Again", "Turn on the Charm", "One Last Love Song", "Old Man Danube", "Czardas", "Sigh by Night", "Treat a Woman Like a Drum", "When I Auditioned for the Harem of the Shah", "Young Man Danube", and several ballets. The production moved to the Barrymore Theatre on 1 October 1945.
