Marco Marra

Dr. Marco Marra is the director of Canada's Michael Smith Genome Science Center (GCS) located at the British Columbia Cancer Agency (BCCA) since 2000 and a leading expert in the field of genomics. He was born in Berwyn, Alberta on June 30, 1966. He studied at the Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia and received his Ph.D. in genetics in 1994. He also holds a B.Sc. in molecular and cell biology. Among his accomplishments include leading a team of scientists at BCCA that mapped the SARS Corona virus genome in 2003.
