Marchioness Of Pembroke
In
1532
, King
Henry VIII of England
gave
Anne Boleyn
the title
Marchioness of Pembroke
. His great-uncle
Jasper Tudor
had been
Earl of Pembroke
. This was the year before Anne married Henry to become his second
Queen Consort
and it was an indication of his high regard for her. It was the first time a woman had ever been created a member of the
peerage
in her own right. The title was forfeited to the Crown in
1536
and has never been used since for either a
Marquess
or a
Marchioness
. Pembroke Pembroke
