Maniratnam

Maniratnam, a celebrated director of the Indian film industry, was educated at IIM-Ahmedabad, a noted management school in India. He got into film direction with the help of his late brother, film producer G. Venkateswaran. He started his direction career in Malayalam starring Mohanlal. The film, named Unaru, didn't do well at the box office, but his next venture Mouna Ragam under GV Films became a super hit. Then came what some consider his masterpiece Nayakan (sometimes compared to The Godfather). It was also a comeback film for Kamalhassan. He later directed many films in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. His hits also includes Roja, Bombay, Iruvar, Dil Se, Kannathil Muthamittal, Ayudha Ezhuthu (Yuva in Hindi) and others.
