Mangekyou Sharingan

Mangekyo Sharingan

The Mangekyo (kaleidoscope) Sharingan is the ultimate level of the advanced bloodline, Sharingan, in the anime Naruto. It is unique to the Uchiha clan in that even if a ninja manages to obtain a Sharingan through alternate means (such as Hatake Kakashi), they will still be unable to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan. There is only one known user of the Mangekyo Sharingan, Uchiha Itachi, though in the manga he eludes that there is another user.

Abilities

There are two known techniques that a Mangekyo Sharingan user can employ: Tsukiyomi (The Shinto moon god; Tsukiyomi), where the user traps the technique's target in an illusionary world that is controlled by the user in totality. The user can then torture the target for as long as desired, inflictng vast mental damage upon the target. No time elapses in the real world during Tsukiyomi. Tsukiyomi requires that the target make eye contact with the user. Amaterasu (The Shinto sun goddess; Amaterasu), where black fire is emitted from the user's eyes. The fire is cursed and can burn through anything. Mangekyo Sharingan users also can use their regular Sharingan abilities with no time restriction.

Other Facts

It is said that only a fellow Mangekyo Sharingan user can defeat a Mangekyo Sharingan user. Uchiha Itachi also tells his little brother, Uchiha Sasuke, that to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan one must kill their closest friend.
