Maliha Lodhi

Maliha Lodhi is the current ambassador of Pakistan to the United Kingdom Dr Maleeha Lodhi: High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the United Kingdom (September 2003 - ). Educated LSE BSc Econ; PhD (1980). Dr Lodhi taught at LSE for five years after obtaining her PhD, before returning to Pakistan to edit the English language newspaper The News International (which she helped found) and earlier The Muslim for ten years. She became the first woman in Asia to edit a national daily newspaper. She became the Pakistani Ambassador to the US, under two different presidents from 1994-97 an then in 1999-2002 (in the process becoming Pakistan's longest ever serving Ambassador to the US) before relinquishing her post on the completion of her second tour of duty. Since 2001 she has also served on the UN Secretary General's Advisory Board on Disarmament Affairs and continues to do so while holding the post of Pakistan's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
