Maldegem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Adegem, Maldegem proper and Middelburg. On January 1st, 2004 Maldegem had a total population of 22,014 (11,014 males and 11,000 females). The total area is 94.64 km² which gives a population density of 232.60 inhabitants per km².
