Makar

A makar in Scottish literature is a poet or bard, often attached to the royal court. The Scots word makar (maker) refers to the craft of poetry (see also for comparison scop). In modern Scotland, the Makar is appointed by the Scottish Parliament as an equivalent of a poet laureate. Since 2004, the Makar has been Edwin Morgan.
In The Legend of Zelda series, Makar is a fictional character, a Korok who on The Windwaker flys in to the forbidden woods on Forest Haven Island. Another Korok named Linder comes back and tells the Great Deku Tree. Link goes into the forbidden woods and saves him. Later he prays in the Wind Temple to help restore the power of the Master Sword. He is a fiddler who helps the Deku Tree in a ritual that makes him produce seeds.
