MaghribThe word Maghrib is Arabic "of the setting sun", from "ghuroob"; to set, or to be hidden. It is also used where, in English one would use the metaphorical meaning of the verb "to be eclipsed" (but not for an eclipse of the Moon). It has the following meanings: - Maghrib is the name of the fourth daily salah in Islam, offered at sunset.
- The westerly direction; West. Thus the word Maghreb for the westerly-most part of the Arabic-speaking/Muslim world, a region covering most of North Africa.
