Madisonian Model

The Madisonian model is a fundamental part of the U.S. Constitution. Developed by James Madison, the model attempts to thwart faction tyranny in the U.S. government by establishing a system of separate powers, checks and balances, and federalism. The writings of French political theorist Baron de Montesquieu heavily influenced this vision for government.
