Madison Scouts Drum And Bugle Corps

The Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps is a non-profit, youth, musical organization. It was founded in 1938 and is based out of Madison, Wisconsin. The organization is a competitive drum and bugle corps and is a member of Drum Corps International. The corps is one of two remaining all-male corps, the other being The Cavaliers. The corps, being of Boy Scout origin, holds the Fleur-de-lis in high regard. The symbol is seen on its uniform and often in its drill forms. The members of the corps are registered with the Boy Scouts of America as Venture Scouts.

History

The corps was founded in 1938 after a group of Madison businessmen heard the Racine Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and felt that Madison should have its very own corps.http://madisonscouts.org/history/ms_history_1938-1950.asp C. H. Beebe led as executive director until 1968. In 1951, the organization split into the Madison Explorer Scouts and Madison Junior Scouts. The Explorers evolved into the current-day Madison Scouts. In 1995, the Juniors merged with the Capitolaires Drum and Bugle Corps to form the Capitol Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. The Madison Scouts were DCI World Champions in 1975 and 1988. The corps song of the Madison Scouts is "You'll Never Walk Alone"; they also have in their corps repertoires a stirring rendition of "Ice Castles".
