was an evolution of the
Winchester
M93. It was first issued to US troops during
World War I
as a trench gun. Its 5 shotshell magazine permitted to lay a considerable volume of fire in a very short time, making it a very efficient trench warfare weapon. It was still used in limited numbers during
World War II
.
