In anatomy, lumbar is an adjective that means of or pertaining to the abdominal segment of the torso, between the diaphragm and the sacrum (pelvis). Examples:
  • A well-designed chair provides lumbar support.
  • There are five lumbar vertebrae (L1-L5).
