Affiliated with the Central Hockey League, the team plays home games in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Many people wonder why there is a hockey team in Lubbock, Texas. This is still of great mystery to all West Texans. A viable reason for this teams placement in Lubbock is the absense of a Big 12 hockey team at Texas Tech University, thus being the only sport not available to the city. Most players on the Cotton Kings are pissed off Canadians that wish they were playing in the NHL, but are forced to play for small crowds on the dusty high plains of Texas.
