low mass (dict)

Low Mass

Until the changes brought in following the Second Vatican Council, a Low Mass or Missa Lecta was one said by a priest alone, with the assistance of one or two servers. It was the most common mass form and was a shortened or simplified form of the High Mass. The distinction between the two no longer exists in the Roman Catholic Church.
